Michael Hauge 6 stage plot structure for story's
I've got a novel half converted from a feature screenplay I wrote.
SInce i'm writing the manuscript independently in Word I'm not interested in using Causality to actually format the manuscript. What I'm doing is using Causality as a "notational" story outliner to unwrap all the exiting subplots and character journeys as an exercise in how well I had adhered to Michael Hauge's story structure and get an overview of how the beats of the novel are holding together so far.
I have a complex multi-protagonist story with foretelling, plot threads, etc between four main character arcs, so it's not a simple "one hero main character" journey. I'm using a lane per major character to sort out the outer journeys, and the emotional beats are divided into Hauge's stages. The stages are Causality's story blocks, and I have convention Chapters outside of that, and my own section definitions as "Parts".
Opinions? Tips? Anyone try to do this before? Here's a whiteboard exported so far for a bit of the first couple of chapters and a publicly available Hauge Story Structure clip.
