# Diving back into Causality 4.1.7 after a year away, bugs and questions for Apple Silicon

Hey all, just diving back into Causality and v4 seems to be fast and responsive, but am facing some issues.

1. UI issue where sometimes the “double arrow push” mouse cursor is persistent and won’t revert back to the regular cursor, unless I go in and edit a beat’s text and even then this isn’t consistent.
2. There’s a lot of issues with moving beats around, and in particular it’s like the Timeline is frozen and I can’t place and manage the beats accordingly.
3. I use multiple monitors, and is there a way to set and save a layout so I don’t have to go into Window→ Separate Window for each page of Causality
4. Is there anyway to increase/decrease text size quickly with ⌘± or ⌘+=

Yeah, there’s just a lot of usability issues that I’m wondering others have faced and have found solutions to.

I’m more than willing to jump on a video call to show what’s going on on my end, but really want this to work out!

Hi,

Yikes, I’m late on this question, I’m truly sorry.

1. The double arrow push was believed resolved. But the real solution is the heavy rewrite that comes out soon, where all this mouse handling is significantly different. This was poorly written originally, and we’ve been eager to get rid of all that code.
2. We’re planning a reinvented whiteboard that allows you to use Lanes as storylines, and that they collapse automatically so you can see 20-30 storylines on the screen. In the same breath, we’re getting rid of blocks completely, and groups will arise automatically when needed instead of being fixed objects. This ties into the timeline, because the timeline had a bias against making it too easy to move events around, because it broke blocks and groups. By killing those two concepts, you become much freer to rearrange your story without doing any damage. I personally can’t wait to see this. It also bring back causations as a first-class citizen. In retrospect, this is what we should have done from the beginning, but this was the time it took to realize it.
3. The next release has all new window management where you can configure screensets, i.e. sets of multiple window configurations of areas, and easily switch between them. The old docked/undocked/full screen concept is killed completely, you just have screensets.
4. Are we talking font size across the app or just in the script? It’s just that both the script and the whiteboard have zoom. And text size has to stay in the Paragraph Styles in order for layout/line wrapping to work correctly. So I’m not sure which text size.
