I am looking for primary colors as background colors for labels. All that is available is pastelish colors with the exception of orange. Can there be an update to add more color options please?
Hi,
I’m not against more colors, it just wasn’t thought about. The labels were designed as sticky notes, which tend to be in pastel colors.
Can I ask, what is the use case for stronger colors? This will become extremely loud in the diagram. We’re trying to make the color use calm so that you can cognitively pack more in a page.
Per
Sometimes they blend into the imported background.
Some colorblind members on my team have had trouble seeing the difference between the three middle colors.
Sometimes I’d like to color code set ups (set up A is all in blue and set up B is all in red for example)
Hierarchy of importance or warnings (the start position is a stronger color, etc)
I also sometimes use the labels without any text, just to color code stuff (priority, what belongs to what set up, day/night, int/ext, etc)
The new Shot Designer 3D will store colors as RGB. The problem here with editing the existing app is a failure of imagination, so the colors are simply numbered from 0 to e.g. 7. Changing the numbering scheme requires a new document version and an updated app for everyone, and 5 years from now, many people still won’t have updated.
Both now and in the future, we try to design everything in a way that it’s lightly backwards compatible, because coordinating version updates is hard for people across different teams.
So in the future, there will just be any color you want, with a few presets that we think you should use, so that all the parts of the UI are balanced against each other.
