Good catch. There’s apparently some state that isn’t ready after an import, which likely hints at a less than casual problem in the processing order, so this is important.
@perholmes Is there someplace you’d like us to send crash details? I hit another crash today while dragging a beat along a lane. And nothing special about it. Freestyle mode - no block or group. A simple drag.
Just submit the crash report, and be sure to put your email on it.
Was there any pattern to this? Had the document just been opened? Or had you been working for a while, and then suddenly it happened.
You should know that drag’n’drop has been a very old and very poor implementatio, and we have a development branch where we completely rewrite drag’n’drop across the app. Now that so much of the app is in ship shape, drag’n’drop is the major source of crashes. I’m wondering if it’s even worth debugging at this point.
I recall the doc was freshly opened (perhaps even newly imported). I’d done just a few minor changes, then dragged a beat across half an episode in a freestyle lane.
It came as a surprise. Has never happened before. If it happens again, I’ll pay closer attention.
I strongly believe this is the fault of the old drag’n’drop. With so many other things in ship shape, this is now our most prominent source of crashes. It’s was poorly implemented years ago, and has bothered us for a long time. The brand new drag’n’drop is on a development branch, and is almost ready.
