Hey haven’t checked back in with Causality in some time now, but do see lots of updates so wanted to know if there’s any way to have macOS native autocomplete while writing the script.
I know it’s kind of insignificant but having the autocorrect like how Apple does it natively really keeps me in the flow when writing and the only app that I’ve enjoyed using has been Arc Studio Pro (but only when using in Safari’s browser)
Also any plans to add some UI polish? Would love a cleaner look to things, since I’m a sucker for rounded corners on boxes~
Hi,
We’ve actually been moving away from rounded corners. It’s the rounded-corner-treadmill, where you add and remove and add and remove them. We’re in the remove phase, but maybe we should go back to the add phase.
About native auto-complete, we have a lot of resistance to relying too much on the underlying OS. This has to work on a lot of platforms, Mac, IOS, Android, Windows and Linux. The moment we rely on a specific OS feature, we have to do it 5 times.
Worse, your auto-complete might be different than that of a collaborator who’s on your same OS but has a different state. It might even be different for you depending on whether you’re on your laptop or desktop.
The same thing goes for speech synthesizers. At the very least, it would mean implementing it 5 separate times from scratch, and it’s still an inferior solution, because it doesn’t have insight into the document, and may behave differently even between your own computers.
Everything we do internally in the app will immediately be available to every user on every platform and will behave identically. So we lean extremely heavily in this direction, even if it means resisting some features that would be useful in a vacuum.
Well said, and understood. Yeah, really rooting for Causality.
Thanks for the quick response!
Off topic, but do you have an eta on the 4.0 video tutorials?
Hi,
I’m way behind on those, but I’m fighting a difficult technical battle over in Shot Designer, and I have a hard time stepping away from that issue before I’ve solved it.
