Request Create multiple beats, same settings

I wish for a function to create multiple beats with same setting. This might take the form of a “Repeat” command that allows for a repeat of the previous “Create.”

When I am first setting up a story, populating the white board, I am often creating many beats with the same settings (same tags, locations, characters). Especially when working on a adaptation of a novel or manga, for example, this becomes a particularly tiring task.

Hi,

We’re going to have proper beat copy/paste/duplicate. There was an open question for a very long time about how to do it, because everything is linked in Causality, so it was unclear how much to drag with you when you copy. For example, if you copy a beat, should you also copy every version of it and not just the active version.

This question got an answer by interviewing people, that the use case for copy/paste is primarily to “try something else”, and if that experiment is a success, the new beat will be kept and the old beat will be deleted. So the answer is to drag as much with us as possible.

Great. (Sounds like the issue is more complex than I had understood.)

Hi,

That’s a general perception issue, because people are used to copy/pasting text, which can easily be ripped out in one place and put somewhere else. The worst that can be attached is some formatting, and it’s not the end of the world if you lose that and have to reformat.

But for Causality, there’s a web of potential attachments, and it was always an open question how much to drag with you when you duplicate it. But that question has been answered. The goal is to copy everything, because the copy may become the new main version.
