Text-to-CAPS shortcut key?

What’s the CMD key now for UPPER-CASING a selected word?

In prior versions it was CMD-R. But, I’ve yet to discover it in V4.0.

As you know, this is important for screenwriters who often uppercase keywords such as character names, locations, sounds, important descriptors, etc.

In Final Draft it’s CMD-K. I suspect you can’t use that (it’s for “kutting” beats), but we need something! Many thanks.

Hi,

That’s strange, I remember it as having a shortcut, but looking at the source code, it never had one. I’ll put it top of the list.

I just want to double check on this: the MAKE CAPS shortcut key.

I use CTRL-K all the time in Final Draft, so it’s deeply missed in Causality.

I know you can’t use CMD-K (already used), but how about OPT-CMD-K or something.

The ultimate goal is to have keyboard shortcuts configurable. It just opens a huge can of worms once you start to think in terms of multiple devices, because you need to decide where the settings live. So that has held it back.

It’s possible we should reconsider if Make Caps is a more true owner of the Ctrl-K shortcut. I don’t have a sense of how many people split beats via shortcut.

Right now, Make Caps is on Ctrl-R. But I gather this is more about years of built-up motor memory?

Yes, it used to be on CMD-R, but not any more. It’s used for Research.

PS: I do use CMD-K for “kutting” beats, but “kapitalizing” would be consistent with FD.

Yeah, CTRL-R used to “toggle Case” but that changed to open reasearch window a while ago.
I don’t think opening research with a hotkey is as useful as CAPITALIZATION,
